I freshly installed Fedora 23. After install my first thing was (after login) to do an update. dnf update password for username and then: username is not in sudoers file. This incident will be reported.

After that I reinstalled the whole system username, password, root password is the same word. Still got the same message. What is going on?

In the install process when you add your user account, you must select the account to be as administrator so it will be added to the sudoers group, Fedora by default do not add users to the sudoers groups, you must that at install or change to root with su - and add your user to the wheel group.

You can become root by using either the su or su - commands in a terminal. You will be given a 'password' prompt, at which you type in the root password in-the-blind. It does not echo to screen as you type it.

You can set up your regular user to use sudo by adding your regular user to the %wheel group. Check this treath an follow @PigJuliux to add a user to %wheel group administrator via GUI interface.

You can set up in terminal just type:

su -
usermod username -a -G wheel

You can also create a new user as Administrator and delete the existing one., You can go to your status menu (user name at top-right of the screen)->System Settings->User Accounts (at the bottom of the Window)->Unlock and create a new one as administrator.

You also can or by directly adding an entry for your regular user in the /etc/sudoers file:

su -

Add a line like this, there:

useraname ALL=(ALL) ALL.
