DNF distro upgrade didn't preserve USB audio device

I upgraded from fedora 21 to fedora 23 with the DNF system upgrade method and, even after rebooting again, my audio didn't work until I went to System settings > Multimedia > Audio and video > Hardware configuration > Hardware, moved my USB speakers up as first choice, and then moved the USB device up in in the order for each type of audio in device preferences.

Notice how there are two grayed out USB audio devices, as if they were stuck in the preferences without being converted to one that actually works after the upgrade:
