I am new to Linux and want to try Fedora. I was having a similar problem installing Ubuntu 12 so perhaps my situation is hardware related. I have looked at several forums and have seen several work arounds which all have failed for me. I am unable to boot from a usb device so am using a DVD.

I receive the following error after selecting "Start Fedora 17" on the boot screen.

dracut Warning: Unable to process initqueue
dracut Warning: /dev/disk/by-label/Fedora-17-i686-Live-Deskyop.iso does not exist
dracut Warning: /dev/mapper/live-rw does not exist
Dropping to debug shell
dracut:/#

Several others have been able to bypass this error by adjusting the boot command at the boot menu to take out the .iso reference and replace it with a disk label? This has not been a solution that has worked for me. Any links to possible solutions would be greatly appreciated. The linux command line is a foreign language to me that I would like to learn.

I realize that this post is a little old, but someone else might find this later and need a solution. I am an existing Fedora 17 user, and I needed to reinstall Fedora onto a new hard drive because my existing one is failing. Running F17 from a USB stick created with YUMI (the successor to MultibootISOs) fails with the OP error. F18 from the same stick works fine. I'm not ready to upgrade to F18 yet, so I had to boot F17 from a DVD. That also works fine.

To me even F18 write same error as in topic when using Multiboot on USB stick. I used Fedora LiveUsb-creator and it boot up successfully.

Are you trying to install fedora in vmware??? If so, this is the solution...

Go to settings of the virtual machine and check for the option cd/dvd (ide). There would be 2 cd/dvd drive. One loaded with the fedora image and other with some live cd (I dont remember the name exactly). Remove cd/dvd of anything other than fedora image and try to boot. It should boot successfully.

Hope it helps

I get the below message as well with live usb drive: dracut Warning: /dev/mapper/live-rw does not exist Dropping to debug shell dracut:/#"

Have not tried it with CD/DVD.

I encountered this error and changed the boot command from "live:CDLABEL..." to "live:/dev/sr0". My CD drive is /dev/sr0, so perhaps try changing it to whatever yours is.

Try with cd or DVD don't use tools like Unetbootin it will work for sure! If you are desperate to run from USB use the dd except Unetbootin or other tools.
