Hi all, I want to be able to run my app from the gnome menu as root, however, I am unable to do so. The following works inside the terminal

sudo ./app

Ideally, I would like to avoid using pkexec because configuring the pkexec file for each program I add to the gnome menu just feels like too much of a task. I usually use alacarte to add items to the menu so using this program would be ideal.

How about beesu? That would do it...

In your case: beesu - ./app

Don't run GUI applications as root. It brings a risk to break your own user account and is pretty unsafe due to the broken/non-existing Xorg security architecture.
