First:

http://fedorasolved.org/post-install-solutions/yum-config

followed by:

su -c 'yum install vlc'

in a terminal.

You can install vlc media player either after installation of RPM fusion repository or after compiling the source code.

  1. Using YUM:

    > su -

    > rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm

    > yum install vlc

    > yum install mozilla-vlc (optional)

  2. Using Source Code:

    > wget http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/2.0.0/vlc-2.0.0.tar.xz

Unpack it and cd to the newly created direcotry (vlc-2.0.0)

    > ./configure –prefix=/opt/vlc

    > make

    > su -c "make install"

This will install vlc in /opt/vlc directory.

@Ranjan: it's difficult to make it more step by step than what we've given. Maybe you need to look around and learn a little more?

@bijolianabhi: Please stick to using yum. Installing from source is not easy. For instance, your solution above does not even mention installing build deps. It's almost sure to fail.
