I do not want the people to look over my shoulder and see the length of my log on password.

Is there any way to make the password keystrokes appear as blank as it does when we type in terminal?

Now for every character I type, a thick dot appears in the password field.
Can that behavior be changed / modified?

I don't think this feature exists. There is a feature request bug against gdm though: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.c...
