Is it possible to install Fedora 23 on 2TB USB HDD

asked 2016-03-14 10:58:47 -0600

Hello everyone, I have a question. Is it possible to install Fedora 23 on a Samsung 2TB USB HDD? By this, I don't mean a live USB but a full Fedora installation. Is it possible and if yes how to do it?

If the computer firmware supports booting from USB drives, yes it's possible. It's a firmware limitation, not an installer or OS limitation.

Yes, possible, almost like any regular Fedora install:

Boot a Fedora live system (from USB flash drive), start the installer. During install select your 2TB USB HDD as the target for installation. Make sure GRUB bootloader goes onto the same external drive, and do not override your existing bootloader on an internal HDD (e.g./dev/sdX).

And when you want to boot this external device, make sure your BIOS boot order is set correctly.

Sorz, but why wouldn't using a Live USB with persistent storage (if -even- needed?!) be enough? o.0

^^ Ah, geez (!), scratch that, I'm blind... The question was: "[..] on 2TB USB HDD" & completely confused me (LOL); because, OF COURSE it's possible to install it - on any kind of HDD, pftt. xD
