Why does my mouse cursor continue to move if I hold my finger and rock it to one side?

Hi all, I have an issue with my touchpad on my laptop with Fedora 17 beta. I only downloaded it yesterday and haven't used Fedora on this set-up before, so forgive me if this is "normal" behavior.

The cursor moves fine when I move my finger on the touchpad, but if I hold my finger and just rock it to one side (and keep my finger still) the mouse cursor will continue to move (like an analogue nub). Is there anyway to disable this? Its making it impossible to be accurate, as when I try and move the cursor a small amount this feature/bug makes it move too much. Sad times.

Fedora 17 beta (64-bit install), on a Sony VAIO VGN-FW21E. Runs ALPS drivers on the Windows install, but as I'm at work, I don't have detailed specs to hand!

EDIT: Sorry, I think I misunderstood your problem. You say that after rocking the finger a bit on the touchpad, the cursor starts moving and never stops? If so, that's is not my behavior and you should report it as a separate bug.

Original answer: I get that behavior as well, and didn't when I was running F16. I've reported a bug on it a few days ago, and the maintainer has reported it upstream.

The latest update to xorg-x11-drv-synaptics fixes this somewhat. Please ensure that you have updated your system.
