unable to restore session

I'm using a pretty stock Fedora 23 Workstation install. When I shutdown and restart the computer I always start a new fresh session and I lose any open program, window position, etc.

I've installed dconf Editor and added the auto-save-session property under Org/gnome/gnome-session. But it still starts each time with a fresh session with no programs running.

Am I missing something here?
