There is no audio output nor support in 64-bit Windows 8.1 and 10 running inside GNOME’s Boxes virtualization solution. Windows’ Device Manager sees an unknown audio device, but it can’t find a driver through Windows Update.
The root problem here is that Boxes will default to use a ac97 sound controller. There haven’t been new drivers released for this card since 2004, and never for been 64-bit drivers for Windows. This sound controller is selected by Boxes, and the problem is tracked as GNOME bug #761031. You can work-around the issue by modifying your box configuration to use a ich6 sound controller (Intel HD Audio) instead.
Alternatively, you can use a USB sound card (many are supported by the Linux kernel) and pass that directly to the virtual machine. This can result in less stuttery and better audio performance inside the virtual machine.
This is fixed in GNOME 3.28, that will be released in Fedora 28.
