After booting from the downloaded Fedora 16 iso image, I get green bars over entire screen momentarily and then resize to upper corner. What appears to be an error message appears at the top of the green bars

......[drm] nouveau ...... mem timing table length unknown

The display seems to have a dim image that might be a background image. A round pointer reacts normally to the mouse movement.

CTL-ALT-F1 does not take me back to a console login.>

That card has unfortunately been a problem for many linux users. I am not familiar with it except by name.

You should first check the integrity of the iso / cd:

Assuming the integrity is OK, you can try booting and appending vesa to the boot parameter. Hopefully that will give you a working display, and you may then install and post-installation try the nvidia binary driver (kmod-nvidia).

If that fails (vesa) , try installing from the DVD, and then again post install try the nvidia driver (kmod-nvidia).
