Why is revoking older votes not allowed?

asked 2016-01-15 08:37:49 -0600

Hi,

If you have mistakenly voted a question or answer why can't you revoke them. If you are the only voter then then your up or down votes can be visible effect on future readers.

Thanks.

Yes, you can revoke your vote (except up voting a comment). I am going to demonstrate it to you by voting up and revoking the upvote (by clicking either again on the upvote arrow or on the downvote arrow). You should see the gain and loss of karma in your karma history...

Please confirm.

You are writing older votes. Not 100% sure what you mean but I just tried it with a really old up-vote and I can still revoke it/downvote.

I can see that you are able to upvote and downvote but I am not allowed to these posts https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/ques...https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/ques...http://imgur.com/jRIFGCN

I am surprised. I just checked the answers to the two questions linked by you, and I can't up/downvote either of the two. See here and here.

I am not sure if that an askbot problem or maybe even wanted, that after some period you can't change your mind. Let's wait for moderator feedback on this.
