Can you boot with a Live CD and see your hard drive? Do you have one small partition 1Mb called Bios UEFI or something extrange?

This may be something that is detected during installl and that You have to set up your bios for BIOS BOOT or something similar.

But not sure if this helps.

Other thing may be if you are using 32 bits install on a 64 bit machine. A friend of mine had a lot of troubles similar to what you describe until he used 64 bit media.

this (operating system not found) error comes in two conditions

  1. UEFI issue as ynlv said

OR

2.By mistake you install the bootloader to the partition like /dev/sda1 instead of /dev/sda

i am not sure about 32 bits install on a 64 bit bec i installed 32 bit on 64 bit system and its working completely fine
