what is the correct proceedure for adding a SSD to Fedora 22

asked 2015-11-23 20:45:50 -0600

I have a desktop with a 128GB SSD with Fedora 22 installed, I now want to add a 480GB SSD to provide additional storage for certain applications, but am unsure what the proper procedure is for installing this drive. I want to make sure that it is recognised at startup and that TRIM is correctly implemented so that the performance of this drive does not degrade over time.

HI, There's no special procedure for adding a new drive. HOw to use will change in your partitioning (LVM?). In my case, when adding a second drive I assigned completely to /home and left the original one for the rest of the partitions, but that;s just a matter of taste. For the optimisation thing take a look at https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/41664/optimization-for-an-ssd/

Kind regards
