Virtualbox screen resolution problem with fedora 23

After upgrading to fedora 23 I can't increase my screen resolution and I'm sitting at 1024x768. I tried to reinstall guest additions, but there's a problem with the X.Org drivers. I have the latest VirtualBox version too. The only option that comes into my mind is that maybe I should downgrade X.Org Server but I don't know how to do it and also I'm not sure that would be a viable option. Do you know any solution?

Thanks in advance,

ps: I get these when I triing to reinstall guest additions:

Verifying archive integrity... All good. Uncompressing VirtualBox 5.0.8 Guest Additions for Linux............ This seems to have been fixed in version 5.0.12 release of VirtualBox.

Virtualbox don't support yet the last Xorg in Fedora 23. The solution is to downgrade Xorg (1.17) You can look at this :

dnf --showduplicates --allowerasing --releasever=22 downgrade xorg-x11-server-Xorg works well!

Thank you a lot!

Upgrade to version 5.0.12. That resolves the issue.

I've just installed Fedora 23 on VirtualBox 5 and I got the same issue. I could not do Auto-Resize but Drag-Drop feature is working. Problem is related to Pre-release Xorg package comes with Fedora 23 DVD These are the steps how I solved the Guest Additions Auto-Resize problem :

1- sudo dnf update

it will install newer version of Xorg and other packages.

2- reboot

3- sudo dnf install gcc kernel-devel-$(uname -r)

4- Insert Guest Additions CD and Run the installer

5- reboot

Now, Auto-Resize, Drag-Drop and Clipboard sharing features should be working.

Upgrade to VirtualBox 5.0.12. They seem to have fixed the issue.

I can confirm that niac06's solution works. Fedora 23 and Oracle VirtualBox 5.0.16r105871

Yes this configuration works. Thanks to eniac06!

P.S. You'll get updated to most recent kernel and it might take up considerable amount of data. In my case it was 1.7G (I'm running fedora scientific fc23)

This worked for me as well using Virtual Box 5.0.20 and Fedora 23

sudo dnf update solved the issue with Fedora 24 (guest) with VBox 5.0.26. Thank you.
