Hi everyone,

I am trying to install GCC compiler on my Fedora virtual machine. However the installtion process freezes midway through.

# yum -y install gcc
Transaction Summary
Install 9 Packages
Upgrade 2 Packages

Total size: 37 M
Downloading Packages:
Running Transaction Check
Running Transaction Test
Transaction Test Succeeded
Running Transaction
Warning: RPMDB altered outside of yum.
Updating : glibc-common-2.14.90-21.i686 [## ] 1/13

...Above stage is where it freezes for a long time before automatically getting killed

Any ideas?

# rpmdb --rebuilddb
# yum clean all
# yum -y install gcc

That will recontruct your rpm database, and empty the yum cache.
