Hi,

Does it make sense to enable fstrim.timer (Discard unused blocks once a week) on a SSD system by default? What are pros and cons?

How do I enable it so that it will be started at each boot?

On my system it looks like this (I ran systemctl enable fstrim.timer.)

$ systemctl status fstrim.timer
● fstrim.timer - Discard unused blocks once a week
   Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/fstrim.timer; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)
   Active: inactive (dead)
     Docs: man:fstrim
