I want to open a file from Nautilus, in an application called "Arduino IDE". From Nautilus, I right click on a file > Open With Other Application > Select Application Many applications are listed, but not Arduino.

Arduino is installed in /home/wolfv/Downloads/arduino-1.6.5/arduino. Arduino launches successfully from the Gnome Apps-dash, and the file opens successfully from the Arduino IDE. How to launch Arduino from files in Nautilus?

Try a Nautilus script. You can create an executable script in

~/.local/share/nautilus/scripts

that will add a Scripts option when right-clicking an item within Nautilus. Remember to mark the script executable, to ensure that it shows in the right-click menu in Nautilus.

Thanks swilson. This script worked:

!/bin/sh

This script opens the selected file in Arduino IDE

It will only open a single file

/opt/arduino-1.6.5-r5/arduino $@
