Stream from Video player to Chromecast

Running Fedora Workstation 22.

How can I stream a video to a Chromecast?

Not a 'Fedora' solution. But this is what I did.

  1. Installed Chromium using copr
  2. Installed Videostream for Google Chromecast app
  3. Stream the video

And yes, it worked!

Now VLC can cast local videos to chromecast, the update VLC version built is Nightly. Please see the link

Probably not the answer you're looking for but you could:

  1. Install the Chromecast app in Chrome
  2. upload the movie file to Google Drive
  3. Navigate to your Drive folder in Chrome and open the movie file which will display in a player app like on YouTube.
  4. Start Casting and enlarge the player to full screen.
