How to switch the display manager to mdm?

I just installed MATE on Fedora 17, and would like to switch the display manager over to mdm from the default. How do I accomplish this?

Edit the file /etc/sysconfig/desktop (as root):

PREFERRED=/usr/bin/mate-session

DISPLAYMANAGER=/usr/sbin/mdm

and reboot.
