Copy & Paste in the gnome-terminal

asked 2015-07-27 01:52:42 -0600

On a Fedora Workstation 22 I can't Paste in the gnome-terminal strings that I Copied from Firefox.

I installed the Clipboard extension for the gnome-shell but that extension record the copied items, but in the gnome-terminal the Copy & Paste commands are grey.

Can anyone help me?

If you are using GNOME on Wayland, this is a known bug:

1) https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug....

2) https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug....

If you are not using Wayland, then maybe the lines you are trying to paste are not in a clear/clean text format ? Try to paste these lines first in an editor (eg gedit) then copy from there and try to paste into gnome-terminal.

As an alternative try to use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+V (for Paste into terminal from buffer) or Ctrl+Shift+C (to copy from terminal into buffer).

Yes, I realized I was on Wayland. With the normal gnome I've no problem. Thank you!

Is it a bug if the feature is not yet available? Wayland clipboard facilities are totally different from Xorg.
