Fixing touchpad in fedora 20
I am quite new to Linux world, but very long time Windows user.
I have Dell XPS 15 L502X laptop. It shipped with driver cd for Windows. Also the drivers are available online here. However, it seems that Dell does not provide drivers for linux. I am running Fedora 20 in Vmware and I dont get my touchpad scroll to work in Fedora. The link above provides touchpad driver from Synaptics which works perfect with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, how can I get touchpad zoom and scroll work quickly on Fedora.
Any quick fix appreciated.
Fedora 20 is beyond end of lie mupgrade to a suported verion of Fedora.
Does that means I will never be able to make touchpad work with fedora 20? Or just that no one here intend to help me out? Anyways, then can anyone tell me QUICK FIX for Fedora 21? End of support / upgrade sounds very much like lazy support executive reason.
It means it is not officially supported and as we are all volunteers you will have to wait for someone interested in looking at your problem. The reason support drops off is no one wants to try working on a bug in a old package the was likely fixed in an update to the package. In your case, the driver is in the kernel, and not a lot of people are going to want to work on old kernel bugs.
The Fedora VMWare guest does not have a synaptics touchpad, it has a vmware virtual pointer device. Look for vmware-tools or similar.
