I've just installed Fedora 22. At several times, I'm asked for setting a NEW keyring password, including setting my E-mail account. The process defaults E-mail account password as a keyring password. I've never encounter a keyring concept yet. So I wonder how and why.

Basically gnome-keyring is an application for storing your passwords, SSH keys, certificates etc. Think of it like some kind of password manager.

Official explanation is: "GNOME Keyring is a collection of components in GNOME that store secrets, passwords, keys, certificates and make them available to applications."

Thank you. Shall I frequently logging with keyring password for using applications that connect to keyring?

I personally use it for caching my private SSH key passphrase and similar things so I believe it's good enough. So my general recommendation is to use it, but final decision is up to you :-)
