I have an old Acer Extensa with 3 OS: Linux Mint 17.1, Debian Jessie 8.0 and Fedora 21 Gnome.

Mint and Debian shows me that memory ram is = 4gb

Fedora shows me = 3 gb ram

¿Why? I've tried fedora gnome, lxde and mate (in live cd) obtaining the same result, 3gb

Could you give me a fedora solution.

Thanks in advance.

You probably installed i686 version of Fedora you need to use PAE-kernel so do in your terminal

sudo yum install kernel-PAE

Then you will see the 4 gigs of RAM.

Hope this help

Good Luck

Yes, either ues kernel-PAE or install the x86_64 edition of Fedora (a 64bit installation should also manage the RAM better, I've read that in some Linux distro dev mailing list some time ago).

After install kernel-PAE, in 2 minutes, without any problem, I reboot and then:

[j@21 ~]$ cat /proc/meminfo MemTotal: 4121228 kB

This is OK.

Thanks for your help

PS: To sideburns, don't worry about e-mail. Is second one, specially for spammers!

That's quite all right. It's always better to be safe than sorry, and I'm glad you've got things working correctly. You may want to remove the non-PAE kernels so that they don't get updated any more.
