The equivalent command for checking your filesystems in Linux is fsck . It has a man (manual) page here: http://linux.die.net/man/8/fsck

it might be helpful to find out what is causing your Fedora server to reboot on its own. My Fedora system runs for months - it only ever sees a restart when we've had a kernel update.

The analogue to chkdsk - but neither may inform you of physical defects on the drive. Use a tool that checks the drive's SMART attributes ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M.A.R.T . ) to check the drive health. gnome-disks provides a graphical and easy to interpret interface (red and green lights!) but command line utilities like smartctl do the same job.

Especially watch out for Reallocated Sector Count, Error Retry Rate, and Offline Uncorrectable. If these values are high or growing, you must replace the drive. Often the output of smartctl -a /dev/sda on a problematic drive is sufficient when submitting a warranty claim.

If your system is shutting off improperly, Fedora should be performing an fsck to repair the filesystems when it first boots.
