Cursor freezes in KDE

Hi there,

I am new to this community, and I've searched for an answer to this question with no luck. I recently decided to dual-boot my Windows machine with Fedora 21 w/ KDE, and before I switched to away from Gnome everything worked fine (I just really dislike Gnome). Once I switched to KDE, I noticed that every now & then when I am in the middle of working the cursor just freezes and won't move/interact with the screen anymore (the keyboard stops responding too) and the only option is to reboot. It has caused me to lose unsaved work numerous times.

I have some experience with Ubuntu/Lubuntu/Linux Mint on a laptop, but this is the first time I've ever used it on a desktop with a video card (NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT) and sound card (Auzentech X-Fi Bravura 7.1) so perhaps I don't have the correct drivers? I'm not sure how to install drivers in Fedora. Also I'm pretty sure the sound card driver doesn't even exist for Linux (the software that came w/ the sound card only mentions Windows/comes as an .exe file) Anyway I digress, I'm mostly just trying to figure out the cursor issue, but in case it's related to the video card any help with drivers would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Make sure that you have kcm-gtk installed

yum install kcm-gtk

start menu -> system settings -> Application Appearance -> gtk+ apperance (Control the style and fonts used by GTK+ applications in KDE) and change -> and choose widget style: adwaita widget style: oxygen-gtk shows some problems

Please see the answer provided here. What you are most likely seeing with KDE are issues with the nouveau driver. For Fedora 23, you'll either need to attempt to follow the above instructions or downgrade Xorg + install RPMFusion + install akmod-nvidia
