Gnome not respecting VNCServer screen size on Fedora 21

I'm having all kinds of issues with Fedora 21 trying to get VNC to work.

I've started VNCServer w/

in /lib/systemd/system/vncserver@:1.service /usr/bin/vncserver :1 -geometry 1280x1024 -depth 24

But I get 1920x1200 instead. I tried going to Gnome settings and changed the display to 1280x1024, applied settings, keep settings but the screen remains 1920x1200. Searched the internet and found nothing but bad instructions.

Another scary thing is that I was asked for Root password when first launched for stuff like color, etc. even though I setup the server for my user id

I'm ready to quit gnome. Why does it assume a touch screen w/large icons? The Setup dialogs are pathetic. Tried switching to fwvm and had all kinds of problems just trying to get something more than a [x] button on the window. WTF. Who messed everything up? Spending hours just trying to get a normal workstation with these new distros.
