Can I use Fedora Server for intranet and shared drives for Windows?
Hello,
Can I use Fedora server for below:
- Can I access Fedora Server through Windows 7 machines?
- Hosting intranet web-application (java based).
- Can I create Shared drives on Fedora Server and access it via Windows 7?
Please provide details. I have 10 Windows 7 machines.
This question is confusing, because even a cursory amount of research would tell you that Fedora has web servers and file servers that can be accessed by Windows machines. Is there specific information you're looking for, or something in instructions that you've already looked at that we can help you understand?
Hello randomuser,
I am new to Fedora21 server. I need to know, whether its a good idea to have Fedora21 server and connect Windows Machines to it at my client's firm. My client dont want to invest too much in servers. Therefore, thought of Fedora Server.
I am not aware of how to setup (machine, hardware, connectivity wires, etc) and configure it for intranet - apache-tomat or glassfish and shared drives.
Please assist.
Yes, I think that Fedora Server is capable of what you describe - however, I don't think it is a good idea to offer Fedora to your paying customers if you do not know how to use it.
Hello randomuser,
What is your suggestion if not Fedora? Please assist. I work with Java based web and wants to host it on Intranet of client so that they can use it over browser.
Please assist.
It's more of an ethical point than a technical one. You're asking very basic questions; I would have ethical reservations about selling my expertise in something I know that much about. I can't see it working out well for you or the client.
