Why won't Fedora install on my laptop?
I have tried to install Fedora 21, and Fedora KDE on my laptop as a dual boot with Windows 8.1, and it keeps throwing warnings. I have been using Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.5.8 to put the iso on my usb for install (brand new flash drive). I tried to download the Fedora USB creator but Norton kept removing it because it kept saying it was infected.
Here are the warnings that it gives me when I try to boot from the usb. (sorry it won't let me upload a photo)
Starting Dracut Emergency Shell...
Warning: /dev/disk/by-label/Fedora-Live-KDE-x86_64-21-5 does not exist Warning: /dev/mapper/live-rw does not exist
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and how to get a successful dual boot with Windows 8.1 and Fedora?
Where are you trying to download the Fedora Live USB creator from? The official site is here: https://fedorahosted.org/liveusb-creator/ you should try this source only if the versions you're trying to access are causing you issues.
I think your problem is caused by a badly set-up USB, btw. If you have a CD writer you could try the network install ISO as an alternative, it's a smaller download than the Live CD, but you'll have to burn it to a CD to use it.
I echo cobra use another mirror or use a Live CD
thanks for your asking!!!! I have the same problem too!! And thanks to cobra's answer, I have been success through using cobra's link about live usb!!! i formerly use "unetbootin" so failed thanks very much!!!!!!!!
