Why don't people use their votes in here?
I am a member of this community and some others, only two of them have this model of "up and down votes". How can it be that people in here don't use their votes?
The voting system, "if used" would greatly improve the quality of questions and answers. I would think.
The voting system should help others indentify the users that put the most effort into their questions and anwers.
I've been a member for almost a year now, and I recently came across another users profile which had approximately the same amount of answers and questions and had been a member for approximately the same amount of time, still his answers and questions had exactly the same low frequency of votes. Why is that?
If you are a member of this community, please use your votes. It strenghtens the system we use.
I get visit specific questions as I am subscribed to the RSS feed. I should probably visit the site more often for voting.
Wouldn't a better question be: How can we encourage people to vote more on Ask Fedora? It'll even get answers worth marking. The current one is more a discussion thread, something Askbot isn't designed for.
Also note that we already have a question about this: https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/8160/sticky-why-is-the-ability-to-upvote-and-downvote-important-to-us/
I'd recommend upvoting that and commenting to get it more visibility instead of this new one.
It's somewhat unfair, but if a question has two or three answers and is already marked as solved, it's difficult to go opening that question to vote in preference to the question that has no answers where someone actually needs help. For me, the unanswered ones always come first. And if I've not had time to get to all of those, then looking round to apply votes isn't going to get a look in. I do try to reward good questions and good answers where I see them, though.
I don't have enough karma to vote up answers. So even when I want to I can't vote.
