So I've been trying this two days now. I have windows 8.1 on the ssd and im trying to install linux on a secondary HDD. I managed to install ubuntu but had some problems with the gpu drivers (r9 280x) so i decided to give fedora a try since i heard it has more up to date drivers for newer hardware.

Here are my specs:

mobo: maximus vi formula

cpu: 4770k

gpu: r9 280x toxic

ram: 16gb

i downloaded the 64bit iso image. I used a universal usb tool and booted from the usb on uefi mode. i tried with secure boot both on and off. both times the fedora icon would start filling then looked like it was stuck only to send me to dracu.

I then used liveusb creator and booted again from the usb on uefi. tried with secure boot both on and off. and when i pressed start fedora it said

"error: file -/syslinux/vmlinuz0 not found" etc

press any key to continue

and it would send me back to the screen where i choose to start fedora or test media and start etc. path syslinux/vmlinuz0 existed on the usb. tried changing syslinux to isolinux as someone online suggested but nothing. still the same. gave up with the liveusb tool and tried direct write.

used both image writer and rawrite32 as suggested on fedora website. had the same outcome with both. no matter if i had secure boot on or off.

I boot from usb on uefi, select start fedora. I get a brief screen saying twice:

efi: problem loading in-kernel x.509 certificate (-129)

after that the fedora logo stars to fill and it does fill pretty quickly and then i have no input on any of my monitors. not just black but no feedback at all.

if instead of start fedora i select test media etc. some testing occurs with some errors that comes to:

Warning: /dev/mapper/live-rw does not exist

and then it throws me back to dracu.

also i typed exit in dracu at this point just to try something that i read online and it didnt work.

this thing really starts to piss me off. anyone have any tips or can help me???

EDIT: I have verified the iso image and its fine.

Did you run liveusb creator as adminstrator to creat the live usb? Have you checked your image integrity? you can check theme here:

maybe the ISO that you downloaded hasn't downloaded completely. Verify your downloaded ISO file (head to ) You may also use the option to download the ISO from site using the liveusb-creator itself.

Brothers that issue is the tool that you use to put the iso file in the pendrive. Use win32imager something like that is the more precise tool for Windows uefi mode, I will work perfectly brothers. Lilly Creator works but gives that kernel problem USB universal doesn't work on uefi mode but win32 does...
