cannot play any videos in fedora 20

I have tried all the solutions related to this topic..but none of them works for me..Is there any way to install h264 codec. I tried vlc,sm player,whaaw media player. If it does not have a solution, i have to uninstall fedora and use ubuntu instead..Plz help.

If or how you can add h264 support for your app depends on the media framework used.

KDE:

I just updated and restarted. Now VLC works fine. Thank you everyone for your valuable help. In other words, if none of these solutions below work for you, just run

$ yum update

What you need is x264-libs which is available from rpmfusion-free.

Installing vlc should pull in x264. No extra steps should be needed:

[asinha@ankur-laptop  ~]$ rpm -q --requires vlc vlc-core | egrep x2
libx264.so.138()(64bit)

Easiest way is to install it using fedy first install fedy. log in to the super user type 'su' on terminal then provide your root password and then in terminal type 'yum install fedy' after that installation install multimedia package using fedy. to run fedy write 'fedy' on your terminal.
