I'd like to be able to use macrons in F20 - is there an add-on or such-like?

There is no package to install; either the font you're using has them or it doesn't. In order to use a character with a macron, you can open up the program Character Map, that should be on your Accessories Menu, select the appropriate glyph and insert it. If you don't see what you need in the list of characters, or you only see a box with the appropriate hex code for the character, that means that the font you're using doesn't include it. In LibreOffice, use Insert->Special Character to do the same thing. As far as Firefox goes, all you can do is make sure that it's using a font that has the special characters you need.

You can type letters with macrons using the Compose key; which you can configure using the tools provided by whatever desktop environment you're using.
