How do I install a Spanish keyboard in my KDE desktop?

I recently had to reload my system, and somehow lost my Spanish Keyboard option. I live in Chile, and sometimes need to use a Spanish keyboard, for the tildes, accents, etc. In the input devices section of System Settings, the keyboard only lists English as an option - - and since English IS my first language, I prefer it as the default, but I used to be able to switch between English and Spanish by clicking an icon in the taskbar. I remember it was easy the last time . . . Spanish showed up in the available languages bar in the keyboard configuration language tab. But it's not there now. I've gone to the apper installation, and loaded Spanish support, but still don't have the option to change keyboard layouts.

Anybody have the solution?

Thanks.

Hi,

Are you using latest Fedora 20 / KDE 4.12?

On my system, the option to configure the keyboard layout is in System Settings -> Hardware -> Input Devices. Then go to the Layouts tab and check the Configure Layouts checkbox. This will enable the list below where you can select your keyboard layout. You can click Add to select the new layout. After saving this settings, the button to select your keyboard layout will appear in your system tray (ie. "es" or "us").

I don't have the spanish support package installed on my system and still all the keyboard layouts are available. They should be part of KDE itself.

Hope you can get it to work.

Cheers

localectl set-x11-keymap "es" "" "" "terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp" (if you want ctrl_alt_bksp works)
