i am not getting the solution of this problem while updating fedora 20 on 64 bit?

here is the problem:

[root@localhost ~]#  yum update
Loaded plugins: langpacks, refresh-packagekit
Error: Cannot retrieve metalink for repository: fedora/20/x86_64. Please verify its path and try again
[root@localhost ~]#

i have tried all thesolution available on internet. ie like uncomment the baseurl and comment the metalink. another one go to /etc/hosts and append two lines. etc. but no significant result.

please help ASAP. thanks in advance.

Are you connected to the Internet?

Have you tried

yum clean all
yum update

If that didn't work and it was my system I would then do the following:

cd /var/lib/rpm
su -c 'rm -f __db*'
su -c 'rpm --rebuilddb'
yum update

thee first one haven't worked. though i haven't tried the second onebecause i have already fixed the problem as mentioned in my answer. Anyway thanks for your precious answer. thanks again

i just got the answer. for others, i am posting it here: run "yum install yumex-nextgen" in the terminal. for more detail go to : http://www.yumex.dk/
