how to recover root password in "fedora 19"

I have lost a root password, I want to recover it. Please help

This is covered in some detail in the official documentation for Fedora. Look here:

You can use rescue mode, or you can use an install disk and the recovery option on that, or you can use the recovery mode from the main grub menu.

The basic process is:

  • boot up in rescue mode
  • Mount your system to a safe directory (recovery mode should do this for you)
  • use chroot to go live on your system as the root user
  • use the 'passwd' command to set the root password to whatever you want.

Cobra makes a point. However, since my user is a sudoer, sudo su then passwd root. Set new password... disco.

I had a similar problem recently.
