Both the KDE file managers are crashing on my system prominently while accessing a one particular folder and possibly others.

Is this crashing all the time, or only when it accesses specific folders? Did you install the KDE spin, or install KDE after the fact?

Crashes with particular folders. I am on KDE Spin.

What is special about that specific folders? Do their name contain non-ASCII characters? Do they have special permissions?

non-ASCII characters probably.

I am having this same problem. There are 2 accounts on my system (fedora 20 kde spin), and it only happens on my account. Via internet research, I have discovered that starting dolphin with the following command seems to cure the problem temporarily:

dbus-launch --exit-with-session dolphin

This, of course, is not a real solution. You can, BTW, subsititute "dolphin" with whatever kde application.
