having some wine troubles... edit: mostly fixed but...
I have an old windows game from the 95-98 era. but I cannot get it to work completely. so I am curious if you could help me.
The problem is, my midi sound card couldn't be found or so it says. (of course it was designed to be a windows 8 computer so I am not sure.) anyways do any of you remember a certain windows 95 or 98 game, (westwood monopoly)
That is the game if that helps. and actually I dont have room for windows 8 and linux lol. (so that is not an option)
edit: help would be really appreicated.
MAJOR EDIT: I reinstalled fedora (32 bit version.) and it works now one small problem though... (I still cannot play the midi files.) which is more than mildly irritating. (it doesn't seem to work for some odd reason. If anyone knows what needs to be installed it would be appreciated.)
First run the
.exe
file from the command line and check the errors, then try http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks . From what you it sounds like you are trying to run a DOS game (?), for that DOSbox may help. Also for midi problems: http://wiki.winehq.org/MIDIwell can you tell me the steps i need to do it in order? I am not fully sure what to do due to my limited experience. so if you could help it would be appreciated.
Let us know what steps you are taking one by one and we can help you from there. First step would be to have the instalation files in a directory and run most of the code from the command line to make diagnosis:
cd ~/tmp/installationdir/
->wine ./setup.exe
in a Terminal.I am not entirely sure how to do what you just asked. (I only installed fedora like 1-2 weeks ago.) (it is my first linux installation) So... I guess I should have told you that. (I installed LXDE version of this 64 x86 bit version. btw) I typed in the cd ~/tmp/installationdir/ and it said there is no such directory. anyways long story short I have very little idea of what I am doing. (I have used windows up until a few weeks ago.)
I do however appreciate you trying to help me. I am basically just going directly to setup.exe within the cd. (that is all I can figure out.)
My bad if I am not doing so well listening to you. I am getting confused for whatever reason.
