Is that possible to upgrade linux kernal. Does it affects the OS.

What exactly you mean with "update Linux kernel" ? Regular system updates will update Linux kernel (Fedora kernel) as well. And of course it is affect the OS. A newer kernel means like.. a "newer heart"

Yes, you can simply update the kernel without affecting the OS version. Try sudo yum update kernel
