I just installed fedora 20 and the software app wont install new software,... Whenever I click the install button it says that the software failed to install immediately after I clicked it... Does anyone know how to fix this???
Kill all updates by using the following code
kill pidof yum
Then followed by these commads
*su - ( your root password when asked ) yum clean all *
Try install software now. if works notify me.
Possibly the Yum this running underneath looking for updates.
To test go to terminal type # sudo yum -y update it gives an error like a running process, then this is the problem.
You have to use the kill command to stop the process and try again. By now test Yum command to verify that a process to rotate.

Have you updated the system before anything else?
This is happening to me now too on Fedora 22. I clicked install for an application, it prompted for the admin password. I tried my user password and it did not authenticate. I tried root's password and it did not authenticate. The dialog closed and when I clicked on Install again, it no longer gave me the option. It simply stated the install failed. I am pretty sure I can restart the system and it may work, however, it won't be a permanent fix, which I would prefer.
