Why is my system not running 64bit OS
I can only run some 32bit OS on my system, example the Fedora 20 32bit is not running, the mouse and keyboard will hang. These are my computer specifications:
MOTHER BOARD: GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD
CPU: Motherboard AMD FX 6100 6-Core Processor, 3.3 6 Socket AM3+ - FD6100WMGUSBX
VIDEO CARD: EVGA GeForce 8400 GS 1 GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 DVI/HDMI/VGA Graphics Card, 01G-P3-1302-LR
PowerColor ATI Radeon HD5450 1 GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 8 GB (2X4 GB) PC3-12800 1600mHz DDR3 240-Pin SDRAM Dual Channel Memory
HARD DRIVE: Hitachi 1TB
Your question is a little confusing. Do you mean that 64bit OS will not run? Do you mean that only some 32bit OSes will install? Did you install 32bit Fedora and it doesn't work properly? The problems with the system hanging can be down to many minor problems. Check your system temperature during running (or run it briefly with the case open) to see if it has a temperature problem causing the hang. Another good check would be to run memtest86, it's usually available as a boot up option on live CD/resue disks - faulty memory can cause behaviour similar to your report.
My money is on the faulty memory as well. Check that your ram is properly fitted. and run a memtest.
Sorry for the stupid question, but why you want run 32bit os, on machine, that dedicated to perfect run 64 bit os? And why you don't want install Fedora 64 bit? I am a little confusing...
