Many options in the Fedora 20 boot menu
Hi All,
- I have new Fedora 20. Many times when there is a new update and I install them I find a new entry in the boot menu. It is very annoying. Why there are so many new entries? How can I delete those?
- In the previous Fedora versions I was able to opt out those updates which I did not need. Now I can't. Why is that?
- Why the system needs to be restarted after each update?
Could you please help?
Kernel updates contain many bug fixes and support for new hardware's. It is advised to stick with the latest kernel unless you have a specific hardware issue that requires an old kernel. You can stop updating the kernel by adding
exclude=kernel3.x.x.rpm
toetc/yum.conf
After installing a new kernel, the new kernel settings are loaded only after a restart.You should apply all the available updates for your installed software. Updates are good, use them.
