I'm using a Mac air that doesn't have a right-ctrl. I recently migrated to fedora 20 (GNOME).

My left pinky is killing me from pressing all that ctrl-c/v/s :-(

I want to re-map the 'right option' key (right alt) and instead turn it into a 'ctrl' button instead. (maybe the left one?)

It seems like it's got something to xmodmap, but I can't figure out whether xmodmap is universal to linux or KDE specific.

Would any one give me directions & leads to a tutorial?

You can install gnome-tweak-tool package and go to the typing tab to remap the keys as required.
