Fedora 20 post installation issues (languages, system icons)
Dear all, I installed Fedora 20 a few days ago (i'm using my Fedora 18 home directory which contains also my FC18 setttings) on my Dell Latitude E5410. It seems to work well (i feel it is a bit slower than FC18, but never mind that, i needed an upgrade). Since yesterday - i can't switch languages (us-en, il-he) though they are configured in Gnome, my laptop's volume buttons have no effect, i can't change the screen brightness and i have no battery indication. I can say that i remember the languages, the volume and the battery icon worked immediately after installation.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Shai.
Have you checked that the shortcuts are configured as you expect in
Settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts
?Sorry - just saw your answer. Yes, i did check it. The shortcuts work, but they won't change the language.
Are any of them dependent on language specific keys (e.g. alt+"ק" or something may give issues on an English layout)? Have you tried changing the shortcuts (it's possible that they are being captured by some other app and the conflict hasn't been picked up)? I know that with Wayland, the way keyboard layouts are handled is changing so your issue may be related.
No. It's the default Super+Space. Anyways - i made some advancement - i created a new user and it doesn't suffer from these issues. Do you know where gnome-shell keeps its settings? Thanks!
It depends what settings you are looking for.
dconf-editor
springs to mind but you should definitely installgnome-tweak-tool
if you haven't. It's odd that a new user would not have the same issue...
