If you can get this working from a terminal, you have the hard bit done.

You should try putting together a short bash script, this should look something like this:

#!/bin/bash
cd <your game directory>
<the command line you used in the terminal to launch the app>

Then point your desktop shortcut at that file. The file could be saved anywhere, but you probably want to save it in the same directory as your game.

One word of warning, if you're using wine to launch this application, or any other Linux program or tool, you might want to put the command's full path in the <the command line...> line.

Another note, you might have to mark the script as executable too - do chmod ug+x <script filename> to do this.
