Whenever I hit the login screen, there's a bunch of triangles and I can hardly read anything. But soon after logging in, mostly everything is fine, except for some fonts.
Here's my graphics card.
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RS690M [Radeon Xpress 1200/1250/1270]
It does this in gnome 3.8 and 3.10, but didn't do it in earlier versions.
This is an old question, but maybe someone finds it anyway...
If the Gnome login/display manager (gdm) doesn't work for you, you can easily install another login manager and use that instead.
# dnf install lightdm
# systemctl disable gdm
# systemctl enable lightdm
Then log out and restart your login manager or reboot the system.
If you hit other issues with the new login manager, you can switch to a text console at any time using Ctrl+Shift+F2, log in as root (or you and sudo -s) and install and switch to yet another login manager.
# dnf install lxdm
# systemctl disable lightdm
# systemctl enable lxdm
Or switch back to GDM:
# systemctl enable gdm

Does entering tty (Ctrl-Alt-F2) and running
sudo systemctl restart gdm.servicehelp?No.. it's only in the login manager.
Yes, but the command should restart the login manager - also useful if it freezes.
I too have this problem. I have tried this fix at the login screen, but doesn't work. It does fix the problem, however, after I login and then run the command in the tty session. Any way to point me in the right direction for a fix other then this?
