User disappears after rawhide update

This is a bit odd, but I have updated to rawhide and I think not only I done something wrong it also updated a bit rough. My user has disappeared from the login screen. My uid is below 1000 and gid also below 1000 for reasons beyond my control, which I have read may have an impact on the login in visibility.

It also happens when I add new user (temp), with the specified funny uid and gid, and it is visible in the login. But as soon as I change the name using

usermod -l alex temp

The user disappears from the login screen. I can login using "User not listed setting", but thats quiet annoying.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: Sorry I forgot to mention that I have tried adding Include=alex to the [greeter] section in the /etc/gdm/custom.conf file.
