Proprietary AMD Catalyst drivers with Radeon HD 7470/8470 on Fedora 19
Hi, I have some troubles with the proprietary AMD drivers and my Radeon HD 7470/8470. I use Fedora 19 64bits on a Dell Optiplex 3010. I installed the package akmod-catalyst from rpmfusion (I have kernel dev packages installed), reboot, then X did not launch and I got this error message (see the gist bottom)¹ on Xorg.0.log .
Some dumps:
~ $ lspci | grep VGA
3:00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
13:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Caicos XT [Radeon HD 7470/8470]
~ $ uname -r
3.11.7-200.fc19.x86_64
~ $ yum info akmod-catalyst
...
Nom : akmod-catalyst
Architecture : x86_64
Version : 13.9
Révision : 2.fc19
...
Catalyst 13.9 don't have official changelog, but 13.8 seems to officially supports² Radeon HD 7400 series and Readeon HD 8400 series. I also read this post³, but if it is possible I would like to just deal with packages.
Do you have a clue why I cannot get this driver working ? Thanks.
