Logitech Quickcam in Google+ Hangout on Air (HoA)
Hey All,
I just started to use Fedora 19 today. It's installed with full updates, installation of Firefox 24, with Adobe Flash support. I tested the browser and Flash and can see and hear YouTube videos.
Does anyone have a Logitech Quickcam supported in Fedora 19 in an HoA?
I am coming from CentOS Linux Server 6.2 (patched to 6.4) and had Logitech Quickcam support in that OS in the HoA so I know that it is supported in Linux, and Fedora documentation bears out that there is support too, but did not say for the HoA.
I get logged in to Google+ HoA, have the HoA driver installed, and all that I see is a black screen where the cam image should be. The built in microphone is also not working.
It should be noted that I am using Fedora 19 in a VMware vSphere 5.1 system, but everything is set up correctly. I am trying to make the leap to Fedora for support because I accidentally modified the CentOS installation that I had with Puppet and all went downhill after that.
Thanks, Thomas
I just went back to Google+ HoA, and I note that there is a Fedora Community there with more than 7,000 members. So, I know that some cams may work, because I am sure that they are not broadcasting in another OS.
I just changed the virtual machine, and added "USB EHCI+UHCI Controller" support, and a USB device to go along with it. Now I have Video support in the Google+ HoA. The "USB xHCI Controller" support was not working. All that these devices do is support different USB versions... no biggie. I still do NOT have support for the microphone.
After installing the correct USB controller under VMware vSphere, all that I needed to do was to select the input and output device in Fedora for the sound to work. Everything works! This Fedora 19 installation is so beautiful, I am going to make it my main Linux system for Puppet work in VMware vSphere. This question can be closed.
