On the fedoraproject website. There is a page that shows you how to create a custom app launcher by right clicking the desktop. Well I don't get the create app launcher option. As a matter of fact I can't put anything on my desktop. I didn't think you could. So can you get desktop icons on FC19. And why can't I make custom app launchers? Is there something i need to install?

GNOME Tweak Tool is probably the easiest way to enable desktop icons.

But, if you want more fine grained control over GNOME settings, there are two options.

If you prefer GUI, use dconf-editor which can be installed as yum install dconf-editor

If command line is fine, gsettings set/get org.gnome.* is the way to go.

Here, * refers to various options that can be accessed.
